Game Report:

New year, no luck (yet)

Vipers Ladies Kick Off 2025

Our ladies' team finally returned to action, starting their 2025 campaign on April 8th after a long 176-day break since their last game. A lot has changed during the break—some players left back to their home countries, fresh faces joined the squad, and a few are still battling injuries. While a solid core remains, it felt more like a fresh season than just the second round of the league.

Tough Start Against League Leaders

We opened against none other than the league leaders—Sport Centrum Srbská—on the artificial turf at Lužánky stadium, where the match ended in a 1:5 loss for our side.

The game actually started with promise. Coach Ana led by example, winning a midfield duel and charging down the right wing before netting the opening goal—showing real initiative and grit and having the right amount of luck on her side. The goal reflected a more settled and structured game style, especially after weathering a few early counters from the opposition.

Just six minutes later (which feels like an eternity on a 25-minute half in 5-a-side), Srbská started pressing hard. After a chaotic scramble in the box, goalkeeper Natalie came up big with a crucial save.

Three minutes on, our high defensive line got caught off guard and paid the price—though the goal from Srbská had a slice of luck to it.

Second Half Shift

The halftime break seemed to rejuvenate the opposition team far more than us. From that point on, it was all Srbská.

  • In the 33rd minute, they went ahead after a cross from the right.

  • Six minutes later, a chance after a corner kick made it 1:3.

  • At the 41-minute mark, another right-side attack ended in a goal.

  • And just before the final whistle, a solo run down the right sealed the fifth.

Looking Ahead

Despite the scoreline, the match showed two different halves from our squad. With better fitness and a couple of players returning from injury - keyword "depth" - this match gave a decent foundation to build on. Goalkeeper Natalie echoed that optimism in her post-match interview, highlighting the fact that this game has been the result of a consistent improvement over the last years and that the team can built on that.
